IMC-A12 is a recombinant human monoclonal antibody to the insulin-like growth factor-I receptor (IGF-IR). By binding to IGF-IR, IMC interrupts cell signalling and interferes with cancer cell proliferation and survival. Studies have shown that IGF-IR expression is high in a variety of pediatric cancers including GIST, rhabdomyosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma, osteosarcoma, Wilms tumor, neuroblastoma, hepatoblastoma, gliomas, and synovial sarcoma. Phase I studies in adults have shown that the drug is generally well-tolerated.
Age: Patients up to 30 years old at the time of study enrollment are eligible.
