About GIST Trials Database

How It Started

Clinical trials can be an important part of a patient’s treatment, but finding where they are and processing the complicated information associated with them can present a challenge. This is especially true for patients with rare diseases like GIST. The Life Raft Group (LRG) has tried to make this process easier by creating a clinical trials database that does a number of things:

  • Limits the listing to trials for GIST patients
  • Separates that list into trials specifically for GIST (listed first), those that are for GIST but also allow other cancers (listed next), and finally those for all solid tumors (listed last).
  • Further separates within the aforementioned categories by trial phase, with later phases appearing earlier in the list (i.e. Phase III, Phase II, and then Phase I)
  • Allows trials to be searched by drug name.

We think that arranging the database in this manner allows patients to find trials in a way that is both easier and more comprehensive.

Purpose of GISTTrials.org Database

The Life Raft Group (LRG) and its volunteers have developed GISTTrials.org to provide patients, family members, and members of the public current information about clinical research studies relevant to GIST. GISTTrials.org contains summary information about clinical studies being conducted throughout the United States and in many countries throughout the world. The data and information provided in this site are sourced from the ClinicalTrials.gov website, abstracts and publications from scientific forums and journals, FDA drug product information and other reliable public information sites for published studies about the drug or trial.

GISTTrials.org is updated bi-monthly. Data captured and displayed on this site are based on best available information. You should check ClinicalTrials.gov for more updates and for other clinical trials that may not be listed in this site.
